Daniela Ângelo is the winner of this year’s Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar/EGEAC and RU – Residency Unlimited’s residency program.
Ângelo was the chosen artist for the eighth edition of Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar/EGEAC and RU – Residency Unlimited’s partnership, which will take place between September and November 2024.
According to the judges, in nominating Daniela Ângelo, in addition to the consistency of her artistic work and research, the moment in her career at which she is able to benefit from the program and networking relationships provided by RU - Residency Unlimited, NY was considered decisive. Her work in the photographic medium crosses a museological, surrealist and fetishist imaginary, above all through "portraits" of objects in their environments.
Started in 2015, this partnership between AMJP and RU has already provided residencies in New York for artists Catarina Real (Edition 7, 2023), Luísa Jacinto (Edition 6, 2022), Joana da Conceição (Edition 5, 2019/2020), Von Calhau! (Edition 4, 2018/2019), Catarina de Oliveira (Edition 3, 2017/2018), João Marçal (Edition 2, 2016/2017) and André Cepeda (Edition 1, 2015/2016).
