Grande Palacio

Igor Jesus

Galeria Francisco Fino is delighted to announce Igor Jesus’ solo exhibition Grande palacion, at L21 Gallery, Mallorca (Spain), opening June 6th 2023.

The exhibition features video and photography installations displayed on televisions to create an observatorium. Each video guides the viewer unpredictably to another, creating a journey dictated by personal taste, sound, and aesthetics. The televisions are arranged facing different directions, secluding viewers within an unexpected installation. As always in Jesus' projects, the space itself plays a crucial role. The exhibition consists of 14 televisions with video and photo installations, two of which are painted. This observatorium guides visitors as if leading them towards something ethereal that is not immediately apparent. A characteristic feature of this setup is the absence of a single focal point, allowing for freedom of choice and individual perspectives. To add dimension, two of the videos are accompanied by sound, serving as a soundtrack for these guiding lights. The videos and images, which may initially appear abstract, can transform into clear, recognizable forms. Unlike typical observatories, this one is not pitch black, intentionally reducing the immersive aspect of the show. The poetry and subjectivity of the project come from the viewer's ability to create their own path. Jesus’ work is directed by each person's will, characterized by subjectivity and indirect guidance.
