The installation The Enemy stages a dialogue between a machine gun and a statue, using sound and sculpture. As the two participant voices make an enemy of each other, Araújo tackles issues such as the relationship between the self and the other, the human self-destructive condition, the portrayal and the fear of difference, History’s repetition tendencies and, ultimately, the establishment of power.
